Beltane
Coincidentally, or perhaps not, our beloved Lodge Oldest Ally meets in early May and October, near the days of celebration of Beltane or Cernunnos (May 1) and Samhain (November 1). Beltane and Samhain being one, are faces of the same coin, positive and negative, the arm of the cross, the ying yang balance of nature. They divided the year into its two primary seasons, Winter (Shadows Part) and Summer (Light Part). The Samhain is about honoring Death, Beltane, its counterpart in himself, is about honoring Life, Fertility, growth, abundance, plentiful harvest, abundant crops, etc.
At Beltane the Pleiades star cluster rises just before sunrise on the morning horizon, winter Whereas (Samhain) begins when the Pleiades rises at sunset. The Pleiades is a cluster of seven closely Placed stars, the seven sisters, in the constellation of Taurus, near his shoulder.
Beltane, according to myths, is the goddess mother's husband, Vivianne of Aplle Woods. He is the joy of fertility, but symbolizes the constant struggle between light and shadow, the balance necessary for the development and growth. In ancient Chinese culture, the Ying or Yang nature of things is not absolute but relative, for example the day may be the Yang nature and Ying the night, but the morning is the yang, yang of the day, and the afternoon the ying in the yang of the day ... in general all the yang is mobile, hot, which is externalized, bright, while the Ying is static, cold, internalizes, heavy, dark. The Beltane and Lamhain nature relate to each other and are opposite in unity. The opposition Beltane/Lamhain or Ying/Yang manifested mainly by mutual restraint and growth-decreasing between the two elements, controlling each other to balance. This opposition, restriction and interdependence between beltane and lamhain is not motionless and unchanging, but constantly changing, keeping a balance while relative growth or decrease in the course of its transformation. Keeping within certain limits and for a certain period for one grow and another decreases, as if the very earth inspiration and expiration. This principle of Beltane finds in many cultures and especially in Hermes Trismegistus who reported that Nature has seven Laws and I highlight two of them; the law of Polarity and the law of Rhythm. He said in Polarity that "Everything that exists has a dual nature; everything has poles, everything has its opposite, equal and unequal is the same; opposites are identical in nature but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are half-truths;. all paradoxes may be reconciled ", however in Rhythm " Everything has ebb and flow; everything has its tides; everything rises and falls; It manifests in everything offset fluctuations; the measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left; the rhythm compensates. "
This laws embodies the truth that in everything manifests a proportional movement, a movement from one place to another, an ebb and flow, a movement forward and back, a move similar to the pendulum, a low tide and high tide between the two poles manifest on the physical, mental and spiritual planes.
The whole universe appears to be driven by two opposing forces that exert a power of attraction simultaneously and unchanging. The will and reason vs thought and feeling form a cross that almost forces the action. The emission and reception, idea and action, the man and the woman, forces of positive and negative poles that manifest in sexual gender and in metal planes. Like our brother Carl Jung speaks at the animus / anima - the woman has a soul / male consciousness and the man a soul / feminine consciousness and so there is polarization, not just inside ourselves but in reaction with the other gender. Man has a male body and feminine consciousness and vice versa in woman.

"The Lady of Shalott", by John William Waterhouse, 1888, Oil on canvas, 153 cm x 200 cm (60 in x 79 in), Tate Britain, London.
Without running from the main idea, our lodge appears to present and represent the entrance of Spring / Summer and announces the coming winter as the ancient cults. Beltane is not a barbaric cult of ignorant ancient people…, and when today is celebrated as commercially Halloween I do not understand why Beltane goes forgotten ... Because he is the real celebration of the joy, the sun, the life!
It is essential to dismantle all pre-concepts and dogmas of this society that we have created, I know that Nature gave me a body, feelings, imagination, will, reason and morality, because there is nothing in me that it is not contained on Her. Beltane don´t want offerings or rituals that are often self-centered requests, Beltane want that you cultivate good deeds and good lighted feelings and you be the sowing of the Heavenly Sun that come searching of fertile land. The farmer plant with love the seeds in the land and rejoices when they emerge and seek the sun, the farmer does not neglect the needs of his plant, the water, nutrients... The farmer don´t build walls to stop the wind that knocks on his trees, because he knows that every day the wind going to make them grow stronger. As said the Son of God “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. (Matthew 7:12). "
Freemasonry is a way to religare the individual with the whole, knowing that the virtues are more important than the dogmas and traditions created by religiously institutionalized man.
The Father has good crops of those who with perseverance pursue the truth, work on improvement of himself and Society, that make decisions with justice, regardless of struggles and sufferings which the chains and illusions of others cause to them. This revival of ignorance to the master's work in the Father's temple is the link that unites us. Acceptance of universality, diversity in Uno, is often what separates us from religions in the form of public limited companies or limited companies in the form of religions. All men or institutions are condemned if they don´t act with fairness. One of the reasons of intelligence is recognized our own ignorance in space and time, opening our thoughts to other ways of looking the world. In the end we are all Children of Great Architect we are all in Nature, Nature in one. And all forms of religions, cultures, companies, etc are ways of looking at one thing only! Animals know to be in harmony, know and understand what we complicate and manipulate.
Our actions speak for us, not our words. Those who have the courage to work for others always decide with justice and have a gentleman's behaviour, managed to overcome the tests and crossroads of Great Architect and are brothers of great value. Because Christ brought Love and men did not understand, what means that we will collect what we sow in ourselves and in others.
I end this reflection exercise with a thought of the Portuguese philosopher Agostinho da Silva *, summarizing my work "The action is only valid when it is done as an exercise, and exercise with love, when it is done as an asceticism, and asceticism for love that release the God that resides in us. And if the action involves bitterness, one has to do is to change course: because it is not the action that will be wrong, but ourselves. "
The celebration of Beltane also reminds that we come from her and to her we go, is in nature that we exist and all Great Architect creation we must take care, not as self-centered sense of being its center, but oppositely, because in it we are apprentices.
Forgive me if I offend any creeds or beliefs that my brothers and families may have, this work is certainly full of illusions and lapses. .. and grammatical mistakes too.
That nature fill you all and your paths with flowers.
Yours Luís Cruz MM
*Portuguese philosopher, essayist and writer. His thought combines elements of pantheism and millenarism, an ethic of renunciation (like in Buddhism or Franciscanism), and a belief in freedom as the most important feature of man. Anti-dogmatic, he asserts that truth is only found in the sum of all conflicting hypothesis (in paradox). he speaks of Age of the Holy Spirit, after the age o Jesus Christ, in which mankind and society attain perfection. To Agostinho da Silva, this means the absence of economy, brought about by technological evolution, and the absence of government. It also means that the nature of mankind and the nature of God will become the same. In this sense his philosophy is both an eschatology and an utopy.
